2007 Toyota Tacoma Review
The 2007 version of the popular pick up truck Toyota Tacoma is available in three cab styles. In addition to the Regular Cab, there is the Access Cab with two rear hinged doors, and the Double cab with four front hinged ones. The MSRP ranges between $14,080 and $25,975 depending on body style and option packages, and it offers a lot of truck for the price. There is a choice of two engine sizes. The base 2.7 liter four cylinder is rated at 159 horse power, and the peppy 4.0 liter V-6 cranks out 236 horse power and 266 pound feet of torque. When properly equipped, the Tacoma can easily handle tow loads up to 6,500 pounds, and still post respectable gas mileage figures of 16-21 mpg in the city, and 20-27 on the open highway.
Some of the most important changes introduced on the new Toyota 2007 model are in the cab where the seats were made larger, a new updated two tone instrument panel was added, and the radio controls were resigned. In the Access Cab version, the rear seats now fold down to accommodate a child seat. Overall, the Tacoma has gotten some very high marks in the areas of cab room, and driver comfort.
The new pick up truck Toyota Tacoma also offers a X-Runner performance package that sits about an inch lower than the normal models, and features 18 inch alloy wheels. The rear breaks are drums, however, not the discs that you might expect on a high performance pick up truck. Road tests reports have not been very flattering on the X-Runner package overall, often calling it more for show than performance. The same reports do rave about the V-6, especially when it is coupled with the five speed automatic transmission. This combination seems to be a winner that produces smooth and powerful acceleration. All in all, with some new improvements inside the cab that make it a little more driver friendly, and a good selection of body style, engine size, and power train mixes to pick from, the Toyota Tacoma ranks near the top of the small pickup field.
