The Mazda B series trucks are closely related to the Ford Ranger. There are three basic models, with the difference being mainly the size of the engine. The number in the name relates to the engine capacity. The B400 is powered by a 4.0 liter V6 that is capable of 207 horsepower. It is available in either 5 speed manual or 5 speed automatic. Whereas most reviewers have been favorably impressed with the performance and economy of the smaller engines in this series, they are not as impressed with the V6. The association between Mazda and Ford Motor Company has led to the line of Mazda small trucks to be based on the popular Ford Ranger design. The B2300 is the most economical Mazda entry into the small pickup truck field. It is powered by a 2.3 liter I4 DOHC 16-valve engine that produces 143 horsepower at 5250 RPM. You have a choice of 5 speed manual or 5 speed automatic. You are limited to only one body style which is the regular cab with room for three passengers on its standard bench front seat. When you get the off-the-road package, there is 10.3″ of ground clearance and 33″ tires (which is close to top of class).
