2007 Mazda B2300 Review
The association between Mazda and Ford Motor Company has led to the line of Mazda small trucks to be based on the popular Ford Ranger design. The B2300 is the most economical Mazda entry into the small pickup truck field. It is powered by a 2.3 liter I4 DOHC 16-valve engine that produces 143 horsepower at 5250 RPM. You have a choice of 5 speed manual or 5 speed automatic. You are limited to only one body style which is the regular cab with room for three passengers on its standard bench front seat. It is a rear wheel drive truck, and four wheel drive is not available on the B2300. There is a standard six foot cargo bed.
The B2300 is not a luxury truck, and the interior is fairly basic. It has everything that you really need, but not a lot more. One new feature on the 2007 model is a tire pressure monitoring system. There is a 17 gallon capacity gas tank, and the estimated MPG figures are a very satisfying 24 city/29 highway. Most reviewers consider the excellent gas mileage to be the number one pro of the B2300, while pointing to the performance of the 4 cylinder engine as its biggest con. The truck does 0-60 mph in 10.17 seconds, and has a towing capacity of only 726 kg.
There are two new colors added in 2007, Pueblo Gold and Vista Blue. This brings the total available colors up to eight. If you are looking for a luxury filled work horse of a truck, the Mazda B2300 is most likely not going to fill the bill. If you are looking for a solid and affordable small truck that you can acquire for a payment that will fit a budget, and be inexpensive to operate, you can hardly do any better. The B2300, if kept in reasonable condition, should have great resale value. The operative word for this truck is value.
